Your itinerary starts with arrival to the capital of San Jose. Using the capital as a base, you will visit the nearby Poas Volcano, La Paz Waterfall and a local coffee plantation. Next, head east to the Caribbean coast for a few days exploring the wonders of the Tortuguero National Park.
A canal runs through the park, connecting deltas and lagoons featuring 11 distinct life zones ranging from palm forest to swamps, the park offers one of the most rewarding nature experiences in the country. Tortuguero is an absolute must see for any nature lover visiting Costa Rica.
River otters, caimans, and howler monkeys are easily sighted as are birds such as oropendolas, toucans, and other waterfowl. For most visitors, the star attraction is the green turtle, which nests between June and November.
After Tortuguero, you will head to the Arenal Volcano National Park to explore and experience some of the best hot springs the country offers. Next continue on to the lush Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve.
The cloud forest reserve has over 13 kms of trails through forest that is home to over 500 bird species, 120 species of reptiles and amphibians, and more than 3000 plants which includes the highest diversity of orchids in the world.
Finally you will spend the last few days of your itinerary at some of Costa Rica’s most beautiful beaches in the Manuel Antonio National Park on the Pacific Ocean.
