BUENOS AIRES & MONTEVIDEO

This package is a combination of two great capital cities rolled into one with Buenos Aires and Montevideo. Buenos Aires is the capital of Argentina and developed with resemblance to a European city with its gourmet cuisine, fantastic shopping precincts, many nightclubs and plenty of activities to keep everyone busy.  Buenos Aires is a city like no other.  Montevideo is the capital of Uruguay which is a vibrant, electric place with a rich cultural heritage.  Stretching nearly 20km from east to west, the city wears many faces, from its industrial port to the exclusive residential areas.

Day 1: Arrive Buenos Aires

Your adventure through Buenos Aires and Montevideo starts with an arrival transfer from the airport to your hotel in the central hub of Buenos Aires.  Along the way to your hotel you will get your first glimpse some of the historic sights this cosmopolitan city has to offer. Depending on what time your flight arrives into Buenos Aires we can include a half day city tour.

The half day city tour is 3.5hours and you will be able to visit the main points in the city; these sights include the famous opera house, the colon theatre and the Obelisk, which is a symbol of Buenos Aires.  In the Congress district, you can admire the Legislative Palace, built at the beginning of the 20th century, the Plaza de Mayo (May Square), in the historic heart of Buenos Aires and surrounded by some of the oldest and most important buildings:  The Casa Rosada (Pink House), where the government's executive branch is housed, the historical Cabildo and the Metropolitan Cathedral, where, inside, lies the remains of the General José de San Martín.  You will also visit La Boca, a typically Italian migrant neighbourhood, with its colourful houses and the famous Caminito walkway, and a museum of Arts in the open air.  Afterwards, there's a visit to Palermo, the residential district, with its magnificent houses and huge Botanical Park.  The wealthy Recoleta district, famous for its cemetery (and the final resting place of Eva Peron), nightlife, elegant shops and residences in the northern area of Buenos Aires.

After this half-day tour you will have the remainder of the day at your leisure. We recommend strolling down to one of the local restaurants for some fantastic local cuisine.

Day 2: Sightseeing - Full Day Buenos Aires

After having your sightseeing adventure yesterday you have now got the whole day at leisure.  This is your opportunity to re-visit parts of your tour that you would like to see more of.  As you will have discovered by now, it’s a city which you can get satisfaction out of just walking through the streets and of course, there is the shopping!  Argentineans are renowned in the Americas for being incredibly fashionable and edgy with their fashion trends.  Visit the Florida Shopping Mall (Calle Florida) or Santa Fe Street (Avenida Santa Fe) for the latest fashion at good value prices!

Tonight we have included a spectacular evening dinner and tango show at one of the leading tango venues. Here you will be able to Taste Argentine cuisine specialties accompanied by excellent wines and finish the evening enjoying a Tango and folklore show long to be remembered. (The tour includes round trip transfers)

Day 3: Journey Buenos Aires (Argentina) to Montevideo (Uruguay)

Today you will journey by ferry to Montevideo for an overnight stay.  When you return to Buenos Aires, the hotel should be the same hotel in this package, so you are able to leave large suitcases etc at the hotel and only travel lightly to Montevideo.   Please confirm prior to departure.

This morning you will be met in the lobby of your hotel by your guide for your transfer by ferry to Montevideo.  The ferry takes about 2.5 to 3hours and is a nice way to travel instead of always flying.  The choice of travel allows you a different perspective and view of both Buenos Aires and Montevideo.

When you arrive into Montevideo you will be transferred to your hotel in the heart of the city.  Then remainder of the day is time at leisure for you to explore a new country.

Day 4: Sightseeing Montevideo
