The mighty Amazon River system, which holds one fifth of the planet's fresh water and situated in the meeting to two waters (Rio Negro and Rio Solimões) is a thriving city in the middle of the jungle, Manaus is a city that flourished during the late 19th century and became the second Brazilian city to have electric light. Also known as the Heart of the Amazon, Manaus is only place you can fly into to start your Amazon adventure. The jungle lodges we have selected are a great experience and opportunity to learn and observe the Amazonian way and see the rainforest in all its reality.
Day 1: Journey from Manaus to the Amazon Lodge
Your journey to the Amazon Eco Lodge starts with a half an hour boat cruise up the Amazon to the unique Eco Lodge, this eco lodge consists of 20 bungalows, each containing 3 suites each all with air-conditioning, fan and a private bathroom and most importantly hot water! The complex has two restaurants, plus the 'Paradise Deck' with a natural pool and private beach. This area is in the dense primary forest - and the lodge's private monkey jungle. On arrival at the lodge you have time at leisure for the remainder of the day to relax or perhaps you could organise to go on a small guided trek through the jungle and start exploring the Amazon rainforest. There are various activities and excursions available at the Lodge, the packages range from jungle walks, piranha fishing, night tours and many others.
Day 2: Sightseeing Amazon Eco Lodge
Today is your adventure day exploring the surrounding environment, you will be able to visit the Meeting of the Waters, the confluence of the Negro and Solimões (Amazon) rivers plus there are various other options to fit individual wishes, such as a Jungle Survival Course, boat cruise or trek.
Day 3: Journey from Eco Lodge to Manaus
Your stay in the eco lodge finishes today and you will travel back to Manaus where this building block concludes. We suggest staying an extra night in Manaus before venturing onto you next adventure, or perhaps if you are wanting to explore the Amazon area further continue on a star clipper cruise up the Amazon.
