River RAFTING ADVENTURE
The breathtaking beauty of the Peruvian landscape, the roaring rapids of Apurimac River (the source of the powerful Amazon River) and the indigenous people of the gorges make this a very unique adventure that will stay in your heart and mind forever. A raft, camping under the Peruvian sky on a sandy beach and the rush of the Apurimac rapids – the right combination for a fun-filled naturalistic adventure!
Day 1: Arriving in Cusco
Transfer on arrival to your hotel, time to relax to get used to the altitude and explore this historical Colonial City. Overnight in Cusco.
Day 2: Rafting adventure – Apurimac River
It’s an early start in the morning to get to the roaring Apurimac River to start your adventure. The name of the River is in Quechua and Apurimac means “the Powerful one that speaks.” From Cusco it’s a 5 hour journey to Hualpachaca Bridge where your equipment is collected and the start of the rafting escapade. Your rafting adventure starts off with a 2 hour raft down to the first camp to spend the night. Tomorrow you are in for a real adventure! [B, L, D]
Day 3: Rafting adventure – Space odyssey and Purgatory Rapids
Today is a mind blowing day with plenty of action with all different grades/classes of rapids on the river ahead. The first rapids you encounter are the famous Space Odyssey (class IV+) rapids and the Purgatory Rapids (class V) before you stop for lunch. After lunch the adventure heats up with a run of Class III rapids in an amazing white water granite canyon. Tonight we have selected a quiet campsite on the sandy beach under the night sky. [B, L, D]
Day 4: Rafting adventure – Labyrinth and Tooth Ache Rapids
Rafting starts early today and from all your excitement from the previous day it won’t take much to wake up early. Your rafting today starts with a few Class IV+ rapids. Rafting is not all you will encounter there are plenty of river otters, deer, foxes, torrent ducks and Andean tropical birds. In the afternoon you are able to raft through the Class V rapids named Labyrinth and Tooth Ache. Your campsite tonight is near Tooth Ache rapids [B, L, D]
Day 5: Rafting adventure – Tooth Ache rapids – Cusco
It’s your final day of rafting but still just as thrilling with runs down Class V rapids Rock Gate and Babalua Carajo and a series of class IV and III rapids. After lunch we pack up and conclude the white water rafting journey with a private transfer back to Cusco where the tour ends on arrival into Cusco. [B, L]
Day 6: Cusco end of your Rafting Adventure
After breakfast today it is time to leave for your onward journey in this amazing Country [B]
