Day 1: Arrive Bogota
On arrival into Bogota transfer to your hotel and have the remainder of the day at leisure to enjoy this vibrant city. Overnight Bogota.
Day 2: Bogota Sightseeing
After breakfast enjoy a half day tour of the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquira, 49 km away from the city of Bogota. Journey through the northern part of Bogota, the Sabana countryside and ‘El Puente de Comun’. Upon arrival into Zipaquira enter the salt Cathedral a very unique underground Roman Catholic church built within the tunnels of a salt mine and 200meters below the surface. It’s an incredible site to visit while listening to your guide on the Colombian religious beliefs and traditions. After visiting the underground salt cathedral take a small tour around the colonial town of Zipaquira before returning to Bogota.
On arrival, you will enjoy a Walking tour in the historic center of Bogota, La Candelaria and discovery of old houses and churches of the XVIII and XIX centuries. Your sighseeing in Bogota will conclude with a visit to the Gold Museum (closed on Mondays). Remainder of the day at leisure. Transfer back to and overnight in Bogota.
Day 3: From Bogota to Armenia
The begins with a transfer to the airport to board a flight from Bogota to Armenia, home of the Coffee plantations. Upon arrival into Armenia transfer to your hotel and have the remainder of the day at leisure. Overnight Armenia
Day 4: Route of the Coffee Culture
Columbia is famous for coffee and today is your chance
to experience Columbia’s finest exports and visit a working coffee plantation. The Route of the Coffee Culture is a tour that allows you to share the experience of peasants working in coffee farms. It is also an opportunity to explore the mythical and fantastic history of coffee growing in Colombia. From a culture point of view, you will start at harvest. Coffee beans harvested are then brought to the cooperative where they are pulped and dried. The tour continues to the technique cooperative that fulfills all requirements of the National Federation of Coffee from Colombia. During the visit, you will have the opportunity to sort, toast and grind the coffee, as did past generations, to enjoy an excellent cup of Colombian coffee. The remainder of the day at leisure to enjoy the atmosphere Armenia has to offer. Overnight Armenia.
Day 5: Armenia
Armenia is not just about Coffee, although it’s a great highlight. Armenia is home to a beautiful 13 hectare natural forest with over 200 species of butterflies, hot springs of Santa Rosa, and much more depending on your interests. Overnight Armenia
Day 6: Armenia to Cartagena
This morning board a flight from Armenia to Cartagena. Upon arrival transfer to your beach side hotel. The town of Cartagena is a maze of cobbled alleys, historical churches, endless amounts of open air cafes, traditional horse drawn carriages and situated on the Caribbean coasts making this colonial town a must see place for all tourists to Columbia. Arriving into Cartagena remainder of the day at leisure. Overnight Cartagena
Day 7: Cartagena Sightseeing
The best way to soak in the atmosphere of this city is by a half day city tour, this morning enjoy a few hours of history and breathtaking sites starting off with the Pope’s Convent a great place to take the best photos of the City. Then travel over to the San Felipe Castle, the largest traditional Spanish castle in all of Columbia, this castle is a great example of engineering from the colonial period build in 1639. After visiting this site continue onto the Santa Teresa square before returning to the hotel. Remainder of the day at leisure. Overnight Cartagena.
Day 8: Cartagena
Today is a free day to enjoy the colonial city of Cartagena. Apart from walking through the streets, relaxing in an open air café or visiting the historical churches, there are plenty of tours to suit every traveller’s needs. From visiting a sugar cane plantation, the Valencia gorge or a little town just outside the town called Chairama an archipelago zone full of ancient culture and breathtaking scenery.
Day 9: End of Journey
Your journey through Columbia ends in Cartagena. If you want to explore the country further we suggest San Andres a short flight across the Caribbean or Santa Catalina another beautiful colonial coastal town.
