Standing proud and high on the Corcovado Mountain, this statue is a symbol of Christianity and is considered the second largest art statue in the world with its height being 38 meters and is located at the peak of the 700-metre Corovado mountain in the Tijuca Forest National Park. On top of Sugar Loaf Mountain you will be able to enjoy a panoramic view of this extravagant city

Day 3-  Full day Rio

Due to the vast activity and vibrancy of Rio, today you have the whole day to explore Rio De Janeiro on your own. We recommend having a stroll along Copacabana beach and buying a few trinkets at the local markets, or we can organise another day tour for you to see the favelos or natural beauty of this famous city.

Day 4 – From Rio de Janeiro to Amazon

After breakfast you will say goodbye to Rio and transfer to the airport for your journey into the Amazon (The flight from Rio to Manaus is not included in the package price and is quoted separately).

When you arrive into Manaus you will need to make your own way to your hotel where you will stay for one night. We have included one night to either side of your Amazon jungle trip in Manaus as flights can sometimes be delayed, plus there is an amazing history behind the town of Manaus for you to explore.

Day 5 – Amazon Clipper cruise

The Amazon clipper cruise starts on a Monday. Board the Amazon Clipper and depart towards the Amazon River, while we enjoy a welcome drink and are informed about the routes and facilities. After a snack, we’ll meet in the leisure room for lectures about the Amazon, from which we can get a better understanding of the ecology of the Amazon. Before dinner, there will be time to enjoy a Caipirinha, Brazil’s national drink, while watching the sunset. After dinner, we’ll explore the streams and ponds, and with the help of spotlights we’ll search for crocodiles and alligators, and sometimes even night-hawks, snakes, sloths and frogs.

Day 6 – Amazon Clipper cruise

Tuesday – We’ll wake up at Lake Janauacá and begin a canoe excursion along the waterways and lakes full of amazing aquatic plants, keeping our eyes open for birds and pink dolphins. We’ll return for breakfast, and then have a walk in the forest and visit the residents of the lake, who make a living off manioc, fishing, fruit trees, rubber, chestnuts, wood and other extract products. The piranha fishing in the evening is not just for those who love fishing – it’s also possible to see large flocks of beautiful birds such as herons. After dinner we’ll explore the forest in our canoes to observe nocturnal animals and admire the millions of stars.

Day 7 – Amazon Clipper cruise

Wednesday – One last excursion of bird watching and to see the Vitória Regia, the giant water lilies, in the January Ecological Park. We’ll explore the mysterious flooded forest by canoe or by trails, observing the nature of the trees and the water. While we have breakfast, the boat will begin its navigation towards the “Meeting of the Waters” – a unique spectacle where the muddy waters of the Amazon and the dark waters of Rio Negro flow side by side without mixing for several miles. Making the trip back, we’ll pass by Manaus, observing the floating docks, the market, the old customs house, and the Opera dome.

When you arrive back to Manaus you will need to make your own way back to your hotel where you spent the first night for one last night in Manaus before continuing onto Salvador.

Day 8 – From Manaus to Salvador

This morning after breakfast you will need to make your own way to Manaus airport for your flight from Manaus to Salvador. (Flight from Manaus to Salvador is not included in package price).

Your journey to Salvador starts off with an arrival transfer from the airport to your hotel in the heart of the city. Salvador was once the capital of Brazil and still to this day has a classic range of colonial buildings and will take your breath away. It’s only a short ride from the airport to the hotel but the scenery along the way is a tour in itself.

After checking into your hotel we recommend having a stroll down some of the streets to see some of the architecture that is so unique in this area. It is also the focus of Salvador’s famous and exuberant nightlife with countless restaurants, bars and nightclubs.

This evening your package includes a Salvador By Night tour. This excursion provides an opportunity to enjoy a wonderful dinner and spectacular show, set in a beautiful 18th century architectural complex comprising the main house (Casa Grande), a chapel and outlying slave quarters – making it one of the most traditional entertainment spots in Salvador.

Day 9 & 10 – Sightseeing Salvador

You now have two full days to explore, eat and enjoy Salvador and you will need it with all the entertainment this historical city has to offer. To get into the Salvador spirit this package includes a half-day (4hour) Salvador tour. This excursion provides a real visual feast as you take in the unforgettable sights of Salvador’s Cidade Baixa (Lower City). You’ll visit the famous Igreja do Bonfim, the focus of many of Bahia’s (state) different religious traditions, such as the famous Lavagem do Bonfim festival, during which the steps of the church are washed. The excursion also includes historic neighbourhoods such as Ribeira, where you stop at the charming Sorveteria da Ribeira, an ice cream parlour that has been serving a unique range of delicious flavours since 1931. The last part of the tour is devoted to the imposing Forte de São Marcelo. This almost circular fortress was built in 1650 to defend the city against a possible Dutch invasion, and played a fundamental role in preventing enemy ships from entering the port. The magnificent view from the fort of the Baía de Todos os Santos (Bay of All Saints) makes a spectacular conclusion to this very special tour.
